French Carved Needlework Settee
French carved needlework settee has a carved serpentine crest rail with a scallop shell carved in the center surrounded by acanthus leaf and vine carvings which are also on the ends. The base has four cabriole legs with French scrolled feet. There are scallop shell cartouches in the apron. The arms have acanthus leaf carvings at the base and the top. It was made of walnut, circa 1890, in the style of Louis XV. The upholstery was done in hand stitched needlework. There are water scenes with deer, trees, and figures with petit point heads and hands.
